I know my daughter, Doris visited this site alot. I would like to thank each of you for all the kind words you had to say about her. It really means alot to me that so many of you cared about her. I miss her so much!! She was a very giving person to so many people I don't know how she found time for herself. She would want all of you to know that it's not what you do in life for yourself but what you do for others that will be remembered. I would like to thank the "NANTUCKET" band for all the great times and friendships she so cherished with each of you. She really loved all of you so much. A special thanks to Eddie,Larry and Kim for coming to the funeral! I know many of you would have been here, but she of all people, would understand that most of you had to work or lived far away. Thanks to each of you for your thoughts and prayers. I know there are so many others to thank, and to all of you, God Bless and Thank You for being such a big part of her LIFE. She LOVED all of you!!!

Nantucket will be performing in Bear Grass, near Williamston N.C., on Saturday, July the 16th. You can contact the club (DEADWOOD) for more info. at (252)792-1901. It's a great place to see a show. They also serve full course meals so come early and enjoy the whole evening. This will also be the first show without one of Nantucket's biggest fans, Doris Ackerman. I'm sure we'll all be reminiscing about her during the night. It will be strange not to see her there with camera in hand!!

It is with disbelief that I write this note. I am so shocked by the death of such a loyal friend. She never spoke ill of anyone, even when she knew they weren't doing and acting as they should. She would always say "I know they have a good heart and have seen them be the person I know that they can be" and always hoped that they would straighten up. She was always supportive that way, even when she knew better. LOYAL is the best description of her. I hate that I missed her service, but if anyone would understand, it is Doris. Paula P.

I can’t remember the first time I met Doris. And I couldn’t begin to count how many times I looked out into the crowd and saw her standing there listening, enjoying the moment, and taking a picture or two, or three…. It’s like she was almost always there. And I truly appreciate Doris being there. She became a true friend. She had such a good and kind heart. I never heard her say a cross word to, or about, anyone. On behalf of all the current and former members of the band, I want to say our thoughts and prayers are with Doris’ family.
We never know why or when the Lord will take us but I feel blessed to have known her. And I know there will never be another Nantucket show where she’s not missed. God bless you Doris Ackerman.

My heart is so heavy as I write this, and I can not believe I am writing this. Doris was so special and so good to all of us, and I am so sorry to lose her. What a deep, deep hurt this is. Doris emailed me on June 15, 2005 and told me she was having headaches, and would be coming near here soon to go to the hospital. I am so sorry that she did not come sooner, and that there was not a neurosurgeon at that hospital monday night. Oh man, Doris was supposed to go to a neurosurgeon today, and I am so sad that she did not make it. I know it is God's will but it hurts so much to lose this dear lady. I don't know what to do with this hurt right now, but I know my time with Nantucket and all the times I had with Doris are some of the most special of my life. God help us as we try to go through life without Doris now. I never imagined it would be this way. Please remember her Mother and family. She loved you guys so much. A couple of people e-mailed me about the Deadwood show asking 2 things...
First, is The Deadwood in Bear Grass or in Williamston? I believe that officially The Deadwood address is Bear Grass but many people refer to it being in Williamston because Bear Grass is such a small town and in reality it may actually be in neither. But if you can make it to either Bear Grass or Williamston, finding The Deadwood will be pretty easy.
Second, the show is listed here as July 16th and at http://www.2112online.com/nantucket/ as June 16th. I am not sure which is correct though July 16th is a Saturday which seems more likely than June 16th which is a Thursday. I think it is too hard to schedule dates with him being so far away. They played in North Carolina last year. I talked to Mike and he said that Nantucket would be playing on April 23rd at the Dogwood Festival in Farmville and the showtime is around 8:30. They are playing April 30th at Jacksonville at a motorcycle rally. They will play when they finish the rally so the time could vary from 12-3. Also, that night they are playing in Wilmington at a place called Soapbox. Then they will be playing in Raleigh on May 7th at I think a place called Poorhouse. For those of you that did not get to see them New Years Eve, Eddie Blairs son Andy rocked on guitar.
